OPERA HOUSE. “SKIPPY” MATINEE 2 P.M. TO-DAY. “Skippy,” the Paramount production .starring Jackie Cooper with Mitzi Green and Robert Coogan, will play a return season at the Opera House to-day at a matinee at 2 p.m. and to-night at 8. It is a charming story of child-life, depicting the friendship that existed between the 1 young son of a doctor and a. poor boy from a neighbouring village. The acting is remarkably good, and the various scenes bright and humorous. The emotional element is not absent, and the acting of the young folk m these scenes shows to what an extraordinarily high level the training of children in dramatic art has reached in America. Thesupporting bill will include “Fore” (the first of the Johnny Farrell golfing series), Paramount Pictorial, “The Real Estators” (sketch), “Silly Scandals” (talkatoon) and “Insurance” (Eddie Cantor comedy). ‘*The Woman Between,” a brilliant British production featuring Owen Nares and Adrienne Allen (stars of “Loose Ends”) will be screened at the ■ Opera House on Monday and Tuesday next. "Ex-Bad Boy,” a first rate Universal production, will commence a season at Everybody’s to-day at a matinee at 2 p.m, and to-night at 8. This rollicking screen play, constructed for laughing purposes only, tells the story of a bashful young man who is induced to pretend a previous love affair with a famous motion picture star —only to have the star come to town and involvp him in a love tangle that make's him a hero in the eyes of liis neighbours. Robert Armstrong is the bashful Chester, while Jean Arthur is seen as his home-town sweetheart and Lola Lane is the voluptuous screen luminary. Others in the cast are Jason Robards, George Brent, Grayce Hampton, Spencer Charters, Mary Doran and Grace Cunard. The supporting programme will include “Fore” (the first of the Johnny Farrell golfing shorts), Universal News,' “The Hunter” (Oswald Cartoon), Universal News, “Strange as it seems” (Universal novelties) and “Bless the Ladies” (Slim Summerville comedy). A matinee will be held on Easter Monday at 2 p.m. THE REGENT. MATINEE TO-DAY AT 2 P.M. “Midnight,” a British production, and “The Brat,” Fox Movietone special, will both be screened on the programme commencing at The Regent to-day at 2 and 8 p.m. “Midnight,” which stars John Stuart and Eve Gray, is the thrilling story of a secret service agent who poses as a crook in order to outwit enemy agents. “The Brat” stars the inimitable Sblly O’Neill. Whether this picture should' be classified as a romantic comedy, or a comedy drama, or a dramatic romance, is hard to say.
