NEW SWIMMING RECORD
G. BRIDSON’S BRILLIANT FEAT. A brilliant performance was established by G. Bridson, the New Zealand sprint swimming champion, in a successful official attack on his own 220 yards Dominion free style record of 2min 26 l-asec, at an Auckland carnival on Tuesday evening. Bridson covered the 100 yards in 59 2-'ssec, and "completed the distance in 2min 23 3-ssec, which | was an improvement of 2 3-ssec on the
previous figures. He was paced at intervals by R. Frankham. This is the fourth record Bridson has established this season. An indication of the merit of Bridson’s feat can ! be gained by the fact
that the best time for 220 yards oa record for an Australian is a ance of 2min 22 4-ssec standing to th« credit of Andrew (Boy) Charlton. Th« Australian record, 2min 17sec, is held, by K. Takaishij of Japan. '** '
