Mr. L. W. 11-ttvell will leave New Plymouth to-morrow morning for Lake Taupo, where he will spend a holiday camping.

Mr. A. M. Perredes, who has been resident in Taranaki for a year, will leave next week for Sydney on his return to Jersey, Channel Islands. Mr. and Mrs. O. H. McCormack, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A., and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Ward, Wellington, are guests at the White Hart, New Plymouth.

Mr. J. B. Stewart, who for 11 years has been manager of the Union Bank of Australia at Geraldine, has been appointed manager of the bank at Feiiding.

Mr. C. W. Grant, honorary Minister in the Tasmanian Government, has been selected to fill the vacancy in the Federal Senate caused by the death of the Tasmanian Senator Mr. Ogden, states a Hobart cable.

Mr. J. W. Deem, Director of the Fields Division of the . Department of Agriculture, and Mr. "W. J. McCullock, fields superintendent, were visitors at the Taranaki Agricultural Society’s show yesterday. The British Prime Minister, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, who is recuperating at Newquay, has been visited by the oceulist who performed the operation on his eye. The oeculist is completely satisfied with Mr. MacDonald’s condition, says a British Official Wireless message.

The King has approved the appointment of Colonel Sir Ralph Griffith to be Governor of North-West Frontier Province, with effect from the date on which the new constitution of the province comes into operation, states a London cable. Sir Ralph is at present Chief Commissioner of the Province.

The death occurred at Petone on Tuesday of Mrs. Monica Fagan, wife of the Hon. Mark Fagan, M.L.C., states a Press Association message. Mrs. Fagan was born at Cobden, West Coast, and spent the greater part of her life at Reefton. The funeral took place at the Karori cemeterv and was attended by several members of the Legislative Council and the House of Representatives.
