FALSE PRETENCE CHARGE
DISPOSAL OF SUM OF £2O. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Feb. 19. A middle-aged man, Philip Fielding Farnworth, was remanded to-day on a charge that on February 19 with intent to defraud he obtained from Charles Luther Lee £2O by falsely representing that he would be paying the amount to. two detective-sergeants as a bribe to arrange that a bookmaking business carried on by Farnworth and Lee would be free from prosecution. The magistrate refused to suppress the name.
