DROWNING OF TWO WOMEN
THEIR IDENTITY ESTABLISHED. AUCKLAND BUSINESS WOMEN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hokitika, Jan. 12. The victims of the car tragedy below Waiho on Sunday have been identified as Miss Hilda Johnstone, late of Sydney, and Miss Elsie Patterson, both of the Modern Dress Company, Auckland. The later was a niece of Mrs. Robert Renton, Hokitika. The two women were found drowned in a stream near Weheka, South Westland. They left Hokitika by car in the morning and the car was subsequently found in the stream. It is presumed that they were drowned whilst attempting to ford the stream. Nobody saw the tragedy. The bodies were recovered about 100 yards from the car, which contained a considerable quantity of dress material. — - - - — - - •
