During the year ending March, 1931, the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association made grants which, when subsidised by local bodies and Government sources, totalled approximately £5OOO, which was all paid in wages to ex-ser-vice men. In this case these wages were apportioned for useful work and those engaged upon it loyally did their part.
