A successful school year was close! at Lower Mangorei with a concert on Thursday. The following programme was thoroughly enjoyed: Pianoforte solo, George Smith; song, “Daffodils,” juniors; recitation, “Mrs. Mouse,? MarS‘. Martin; Shoemaker’s Dance, rs; recitation, “The Kettles Lament,” Irene Mace; song, “Old Winter,” standard 2 boys; recitation, “Hoppity," Colin Weir; song, “Little Brownies,” Gladys Goldsbury; nursery rhymes, infants; folk dance, “Will you please be my partner?” junior; recitation, “Some One,” Norma Jury; song, “The Lilac Tree,” Flora Davis; action song, “.The Three Kittens,” juniors; recitation, “Mrs. Busy Bee,” Billy' Wilks; song, “Spring Time,” senior girls; recitation, “Three Little Mice," Wally Fabish; song, “Fairy Pipes,” standard 2 girls; recitation, “Up at Lords,” Clive Balsom; Highland fling, four Scotch lasses; recitation, “The Twins,” Selwyn Goldsbury; song, “The Norse Fisher,” senior pupils; recitation, “About Colds,” Amy Wilks; dialogue, “What Happened to Uncle John,” five senior pupils; recitation, “A Christmas Visitor,” Audrey Smith; song, “On Christmas Morning,” senior pupils. The chairman (Mr. F. Robinson) presented the Firth Shield for general excellence to A. Weir. Twenty attendance certificates were won. It was remarked that this was a record for a school of 59 pupils. Boys Sind Girls' Club awards were presented by Mr. D. Mac Kay. MANGAMAHOE SUNDAY SCHOOL. Saturday night was chosen for the Christmas concert and presentations at the Mangamahoe Sunday school. The hall was decorated with ferns, flowers and streamers. Santa Claus arrived in the middle of a splendid programme given by the scholars, aided by 'Mr. A, Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Parker, Mr. and Mrs. Dobson accompanied by Mrs. Fabish. Santa Claus distributed a large sack of musical and other toys to boys and girls, sang for them and told tales. Mr. Parker (chairman), Mr. and Mrs. Rixon were given an ovation.
