(From Our Own. Correspondent.) Mr. Cochran, who has been in hospital for some time, was sufficiently recovere . tc <ro back home a few days ago. Miss R. Britton has left the district to take up a teaching position under .tm. Wanganui Education Board. Mr. Alfred Drake has had to go U the New Plymouth hospital. Miss Thelma Stone has been acting as relieving assistant at the Oakura school during December. During . ei stay the children have received furthe, instruction in life-saving, and ax < benefited by Miss Stones thorough knowledge of this useful art. At the school committee meeting on Wednesday evening there were Mr. Knapman (chairman),, Mr. W. K. Morris (secretary) and Mr. J. Smith. The head teacher’s report was received, and it was decided to cut the grass in the school grounds and see to other matters during the holidays. Further improvements are to be carried out ’ in the school but the final decision in regard to theise was left pending another meeting of the committee. The Oakura beach has been well patronised some, week-ends - lately, the crowds in the water and along the beach presenting a very animated appearance
