BOWLING COMPETITIONS, (From Our Own Correspondent.) On the Kaponga green on Saturday the western division bowling competition was continued. Kaponga A defeated Pihama by 24 points and Kaponga B were defeated by Warea A by one point. The scores were as folows: —
Miss Doris Guy, who has been studying at the Wellington East Girls’ College for the past two years, has returned to her home in Kaponga. The Rev. Farnell, vicar of Opunake and Kaponga, is exchanging pulpits with Canon Williams, Aramoho, for the second and third Sundays in January. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. A. Farnell have gone on a motoring tour of the Auckland. district for the school holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Johnston, Levin, are spending Christmas with Mr. Johnstons daughter, Mrs. E. B. Brewer. The Kaponga Volunteer Fire Brigade held a street stall on Friday in aid of brigade funds, and fair business was done. The stall was organised by Mrs. E. W. Blackwell, who was assisted by Mrs. H. J. Mills. There was an excellent supply of articles on sale, including a number of fancy dressed rag dolls and fancy baskets of sweets etc., which were practically all disposed of. The competition for a Christmas dinner was won by Mr. D. McCauley, Palmer Road. The competition for the dolls’ house was not completed and will be finalised on. Christmas Eye. With moneys yet to come in it is anticipated the takings will amount to £6.
