FATAL CRASH AT BRIDGE
DRIVER APPARENTLY DAZED
BOOKBINDER INSTANTLY KILLED. TWO OTHERS SUFFER INJURIES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Dec. 19. A motor accident occurred on Milson's Line early this morning, resulting in the death of Vai Hewitt, aged 19, bookbinder. The driver was Stewart Bramwell and the other occupants of the car were Dala Hewitt, sister of deceased, and Madge Howell. The party was returning from a dance at Stanway school. Bramwell .states that he must have dozed off. He awakened to find the car on the wrong side of the road ten yards from the Mangaone bridge. He endeavoured to swing the car to the centre of the road, but its side struck the bridge and it was badly damaged. Vai Hewitt was apparently killed instantly. Miss Howell was removed to the hospital suffering from cuts about the face. Bramwell sustained minor injuries. Mies Hewitt was not injured.
