NEW YEAR PICNIC-REGATTA
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The Ngamotu Beautifying and Seaside Improvement Society met at the Palladium on Saturday night. Mr. R. Glengarry presided over a good attendance. Arrangements were fully discussed and a progress report was submitted by the secretary (Mr. G. Roper). It was decided to park all motor-cars on the beach, and Messrs. E. O’Dea, R. Scott and F. Healy were deputed to have charge of the parking arrangements. A stalls committee was appointed as follows: Messrs. Brown, J. Harris, E. Johns, R. Johns, J. Hobbs, H. Sanders, T. Norcott, H. Bullot, with power to add.
The following general committee was appointed: Messrs. Glengarry, L. Sutton, A. R. Standish,®. Gilmour, F. Stevens, C. Lynch, R. Broughton, D. McDonald, W. McKay and T. Nixon. The question of forming a ladies’ committee was discussed, and as a result the chairman was asked to convene a meeting of ladi’es on December 29 with a view to forming a committee. It was hoped as many ladips as possible would attend.
A strong 1 working bee on the day before the regatta will be in charge of L. Sutton, E. Johns and D. Keenan, it being understood that other members of the committee would be there to assist.
Tables will be placed in the picnic reserve and hot water, milk and sugar will be supplied free to visitors. Messrs. W. C. Weston and J. C. Morey were appointed to take charge of the treasure hunt. ,
‘ A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. H. Giles for allowing the meeting to be held in the palladium.
