TARANAKI LAND BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING BUSINESS. At the monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board there were present: Messrs. W. D. Armit (chairman), C. J. Ryan, N. R- Cleland, S. Blake and H. A. Foreman. 1 Several applications for land were dealt with of which the following were approved: Section 3, Block VIII., Ohuia, Survey District, J. N- S. Owen junr.; section 10, block 1, Rangi Survey District, C. E. Oldman; sub. 2 of section 11, block XI., Totoro Survey District, Mra. E. M. Bennett; lot lof section.47, Opu* nake Suburban (grazing) C- Reichmuth; section 19, block 11., Tangitu Survey District (grazing), J. W. Andrews. An offer for purchase of a house property in the town of Patea was considered but decision was deferred in tho meantime. The disposal of Section 5, Block IX., Hawera Survey District, was considered and action is being taken regarding valuation. The sub-division of Lot 2 B of Part Section W, town of New Plymouth, was left in the hands of the chairman.

Proposals for the sub-division of Section 9, Block IX., Kaupokonui Survey District, were approved. In the case of several expiring leases, the lessees were offered renewals at specified rentals in the following cases: Sub 1 of Section 1288, town of New Plymouth; Sub 2 of Section 1288, town of New Plymouth; Sections 1683 and 1684, town of. New Plymouth; and Section 6, Block 1, Pouatu Survey District.

Applications for the granting of financial assistance under the provision® of the Land Laws .Amendment Act, 1929, and the Discharged Soldier Settlement Act, 1915, were considered,' one being recommended, under the former and two under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Scheme. '

Of applications for consent to transfer two were recommended for favourable consideration, and the board approved the transfer of Section 4, Block XIV., Ngatimaru Survey District, and Sub. 30 of Section 1, Ohawe Town Belt. Three mortgagors were granted temporary exemption from residence on their properties for various reasons. In three instances the board decided to recommend an adjustment of mortgage charges to be effected, whilst on® was deferred for further information.

Section 12, Block XL, Ngatimaru Survey District, will shortly bo re-offered for selection at revised values. The board dealt with 71 other miscellaneous cases.
