MANGATOKI SCHOOL
CHAIRMAN’S CONGRATULATIONS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) In view of the committee’s decision not to make a call on parents for subscriptions to provide gift books to all the pupils as in past, years, there was no formal breaking-up ceremony at the Mangatoki school. The chairman, Mr. B. H. Parker, expressed the regret of the committee at the departure from the long-standing custom and explained the reason for it. He congratulated the headmaster, Mr. A. E. Mahon, and his assistant, Mrs. Clements, on the results during the year, and congratulated the successful proficiency and competency students. The children were complimented on their close application to their work and the success achieved. The chairman wished the staff the compliments of the season and hoped all would enjoy their holidays, returning with renewed keenness for work. Mr. Mahon and Mrs. Clements replied and addressed the children suitably to the occasion.
