COUPLE GAS-POISONED
OPEN VERDICT RETURNED. ' By Telegraph.—Press Association. ' Dunedin, Dec. 19. At the inquest on Robert Joseph Norman and his wife Lydia May, who were found gassed in South Dunedin on Tuesday, .the Coroner Baid there were two alternatives as to the cause of death: That death was the result of a suicide pact, or that the deed was done by one while the other was asleep. Evidence showed that the wife’s mental condition had been unstable for some time. However, the actual cause of death could only be » matter of speculation, rather than legitimate inference. He returned an open verdict.
