ONTARIO CUTS 'EXPENDITURE
CIVIL SERVICE WAGES REDUCED. ADDITIONAL AUTOMOBILE TAX. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Toronto, Oct. 15. The Ontario Provincial Government, in order to balance mounting expenditure, unemployment and reduced revenue, will enact a wholesale wage cut programme among its officials, from Cabinet Ministers to minor Government employees, commencing on November 1. It is estimated that an annual saving of about £200,000 will be effected. An additional automobile tax of probably five dollars (about £1) per car is also announced.
