Ostrich Feather Boom. To-day one big question is worrying women, says a woman writing in an English newspaper. It is this: Will there be an ostrich feather famine? When the new bowler hats were introduced and the big demand 'began it was immediately assumed that the supply of ostrich feathers for trimming the hats would soon become exhausted, since they have been so little used in recent years that only a few firms sell them. "’But there is going to be no ostrich feather famine. There will be enough to adorn all the new bowlers, even if every woman in Britain wears one. Inquiries of firms in the ostrich feather trade show that they are rising to the occasion splendidly. “Within the last month our output has increased six times,” one firm statecL “We anticipate no great difficulty in obtaining enough feathers to meet tha supply, however great it may become,, although naturally the prices have risen.. When, the fashion for wearing ostrich plumes died out years ago trade waned, but later survived,, for we found methods of using the feathers in other ways.”
