WAVERLEY SOCIAL EVENTS.
The last euchre and dance party of the season was held in the Ngutuwera settlers’ hall on Thursday night. Visitors came from many miles around, for an evening’s entertainment. The music was in t'he capable hands of the Blue Revellers. While the dancing was in progress several tables were occupied with euchre, the winners being Mrs. Lethbridge 1, Mr. W. Dalrymple 2; Mrs. A. Thorn and Mr. Ew-art-consolation. Miss Warner played an extra, and Mr. Exell gave an unusual extra on his accordeon. Among those present were Mesdames Walker, Stewart, Oldfield, Dalrymple, McGlade, D. Lethbridge, Rearden, Misses Warner (2), Sorenson, Cox (2), West, Richdale, Sinclair (2), Benlfield, Lethbridge, McKinnon, Seed, (Belton, Verry and Roucher. During the week several of t'he parishioners of 'St. Stephen’s Church gave Mr. and Mrs. Bradmore a bridge party prior to their departure for Tauranga, and on behalf of those present Mr. Borger presented Mrs. Bradmore with a crystal vase and wished them success. Mr. Coles asked Miss Adlain to accept a gift for Miss Lexie Adlain, her sister, who is in Hawera on t'he hospital staff, where she is faking up nursing. She was previously in the St. Stephen’s choir.
