THE LIVE STOCK MARKETS LARGE ENTRIES AT ADDINGTON. FAT CATTLE AND SHEEP EASIER. Christchurch, October 14. There were large entries in the fat stock sections at Addington market today, and as a result there was an easing in fat sheep and fat cattle values. Store sheep: A larger entry, including dry sheep, and ewes and lambs. The sale was steady, with a good demand for ewes and lambs at prices up to Is. a head above, those of last -week. Values were: Sound-mouth ewes with lambs to Ils., sound and failing-mouth ewes with lambs Bs. to 9s. 6d.,. aged ewes with lambs to 6s. 6d., medium two-tooth half bred ewes (dry) 12s. to 135., ordinary two-tooth half bred ewes (dry) to 9s. 6d., medium 2, 4 and 6-tooth halfbred weaners 12s. 6d. to 13s. 7d., medium crossbred ewe hoggets to 12s. 10d., ordinary; wether hoggets to 10s. Spring lambs: There was no change in the basis of values. The price per lb. ranged up to 9d. Fat sheep: An entry of 5660 head, the largest for a long period. The market was steady at a basis of values up to 3s. a head below last market. Values were: Extra prime heavy wethers 265. to 30s. VALUES VARY AT WESTFIELD. BIG BULLOCKS AT BIG PRICES. Auckland, October 14. The highest individual prices for heavyweight prime bullocks this season were recorded to-day at Westfield, two drafts of choice steers, making up to £l4 ssi, which is 17s. 6d. above th© next best price to date. Values on a 1001 b. basis were fully up to late quotations,. finest quality ox beef selling at 30a. per 1001 b., choice grad© 275. to 295., secondary and plain 245. to 265., prime young cow and heifer 265. to 28a., ordinary cow beef 20s. to 255. Extra heavy prime steers ranged from £l2 to £l4 55., heavy £lO 15s. to £l.l 17s. 6d., lighter £9 to £lO 12s. 6d., light £7 10s. to £8 17s. 6d., small and unfinished £6 ss. to £7 7s. 6d., extra heavy prime young cbws and heifers £7 10g. to £9 17s. 6d., heavy £6 10s. to £7 7s. 6d., lighter £5 ss. to £6 7s. od., other killable cows £3 10s. to £5 2s. 6d. The yarding was less than the average, good quality cows and heifers being scarce. • Sheep came forward in large numbers, and sold at late values, extra heavy prime woolly wethers selling at 205., shorn 17s. 6d. to 195., best woolly ewes 14s. to 165., shorn 13s.

Extra supplies of spring lambs sold, at eased rates, values 1 being from 3s. to 4s. a head lower. Extra prime lambs made to 205., others 7s. 6d. to 18s. 9d. Competition was only fair for calves, •which .sold at reduced rates. Runners made irom 60s. to 100 s., heavy vealers 70s. to 785., medium 545. to 655., light 455. to 51s.

A heavy offering of fat pigs was penned, and prices slumped. Extra heavy baconers made 595., heavy 525. to 565., light and medium 40s. to 495., heavy porkers 355. to 375., light and medium 28s. to 335., stores 10s. to 275.

BRISK DEMAND AT BURNSIDE.

SMART ADVANCE IN DIG VALUES.

A firm tone was again noticeable at Burnside stock sale to-day. Fat cattle prices were a shade dearer at one stage of the sale, but as the market fluctuated values generally were unchanged. There was good competition for sheep, opening sales showing an advance of Is. 6d., and rising to 2s. a head. Later most classes were sold at an all-round advance of 3s. to 4s. a head. There was a keen demand for spring lambs, and prices showed a slight advance. There was a big improvement in th© pig section, baconers and porkers selling at an advance of from ss. to 10s. a head.

Fat cattle: The entry numbered 238 bead. The quality was fair to prime, and the yarding included a few extra heavy bullocks. Heavy bullocks sold to £l7; medium £l4, light £.9 55., heavy heifers £lO 55., medium £9 10s., light £7 10s., heavy cows £lO 10s., medium £8 10s., light £7 2s. 6d. The prices obtained for prime ox beef were equivalent to 325. per 1001 b. About 1200 sheep were offered. The quality was fair to good, the entry including a few extra heavy sheep and about 100 hoggets. All were in the wool with the exception of 70 good shorn wethers. Extra heavy wethers sold to 30>s 3d; heavy, 28s 9d; medium, 255; light, 21s; extra heavy ew’es, 255; heavy, 19s 9d; others, 16s 3d; shorn sheep sold from 21s to 22s 9d. Thirty spring lambs were offered. Prime lambs sold from 24s to 325, and medium to 245. About 60 head of store cattle were yarded. A few pens of medium steers sold from £5 to £6 ss, and yearling steers at up to 20s a head. The pig entry consisted of 66 fats and 110 stores, which met a brisk demand. Prime porkers sold at prices equivalent to 7fd, and baconers to 6}d a lb. FIRMNESS AT JOHNSONVILLE. KEEN DEMAND FOR CATTLE. Wellington, October 14. Values generally were firmed at the Johnsonville sal© to-day, a smaller yarding than usual being offered. The cattle yarding comprised mostly prime heavyweight bullocks with a few pens of plainer sorts; no female stock came forward.
