BURIED CITY OF GAZA
FURTHER EXCAVATIONS. MUCH WORK TO BE DONE. London. October 7. [ “The work will take at least 50 years to complete,” said Sir Flinders Petrie shortly 'before leaving for Palestine to carry out further excavations in the .ancient 'buried city of Gaza. He will be accompanied by his wife and 14 assistants. ..This will be hie 51st year at thin type of work. Sir Flinders, who is 78 years of age ; is Edwards Professor of Egyptology at University College, London. He has done extensive excavating work in Egypt since 1860 and written much on ancient life there. His grandfather was Captain Flinders, the Australian explorer.
