NEW ZEALAND ROWING
OBJECTION TO REGATTA DATE. INTER-PROVINCIAL MEETING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At a meeting of the Wellington Amateur Rowing Association to-night delegates to the annual meeting of the New Zealand council were instructed to vote against the proposal of Auckland to hold the Dominion championship regatta at Hamilton on January 29. There was no objection to the venue but the date was opposed, firstly because it was too soon after the Christmas holidays and secondly because it was ultra vires in that the rules stated that the regatta must not be held before January 31. The suggestion was made that an inter-provincial eight-oared regatta be held each year on a fixed date, preferably at Easter, and a recommendation is to be made to the New Zealand council to this end.
