EIGHT PROBABLE MEMBERS NO OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT YET. PORTFOLIO ALLOCATIONS TO DAY. (By Wire —Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. No official pronouncement has yet been made regarding the personnel of the new Coalition Cabinet, but it is generally understood that eight of the ten positions have been filled, leaving two of the Reform Party’s five representatives yet to be selected. It is stated that apart from these two the Cabinet will definitely comprise:— Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes (United), Prime Minister. Hon. E. A. Ransom (United). Sir Apirana Ngata (United). Hon. R. Masters (United). Hon. J. G. Cobbe (United). Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates (Reform). Hon. W. Downie Stewart (Reform). Hon. David Jones (Reform). It followed as a matter of course that the six United and Reform members of the special Economic Committee would be included in the Cabinet, leaving two more selections to be made from each party, and it is understood that Messrs. Masters and Cobbo were Mr. Forbes’ choice from the remaining United Party members. It is expected that the allocation of portfolios wiR take place shortly, and will be announced when the House meets tomorrow. NEWS EXPECTED THIS MORNING. MINISTRY TO BE SWORN TO-DAY. Wellington, Last Night. No announcement has yet been made as to which two additional Reform members will receive appointment to Cabinet rank. It is anticipated the names will be made known to-morrow morning. The new Ministry will probably be sworn in to-morrow afternoon, and the portfolios announced to-morrow night. Immediately afterwards the House will probably adjourn for a period of a week or more. CONFIDENCE IN GOVERNMENT. GENERAL ELECTION DESIRED. Dunedin, Last Night. The Dunedin Chamber of Commerce at a meeting to-night passed a resolution expressing satisfaction at the formation of a strong Government to handle the affairs of the country at the present critical juncture. The Hillside branch of the A.S.R.S., on the other hand, passed a resolution protesting against a postponement of the general election.
