ROWDY STUDENTS
INTERRUPTION OF A PLAY. Disorderly behaviour by a largo number of university students at Hid Majesty’s Theatre, Perth, Western Australia, lately, prevented the audience from hearing a short play produced by the students at an entertainment to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s unemployment relief fund. For about 20 minutes the students maintained a disturbance and continued to throw from the gallery and dress circle on to the stage eggs,, tomatoes and vegetables. A lobster in an advanced stage of decomposition landed in the orchestral pit. The floor of the stage was in such a dirty condition at the end’ of the play that 10 or 15 minutes was occupied in cleaning it before the rest of the programme was begun. An appeal for better conduct resulted in quietness, but a carrot was occasionally thrown on the stage.
