BRIDGE OVER THE MOKAU
JOINING OF ARIA AND MAHOENUL PLANS NOW BEING PREPARED. Arrangements are being made to pre* pare plans for the erection of a bridge to cost £lB5O between Aria and Mahoenui on tho Mokau River. Th® Minister of Public Works (the Hon. W. B. Taverner) has written to Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., Te Kuiti, as follows:— “I have to acknowledge receipt of your letter concerning representations made by the Aria Co-operative Dairy Factory urging that the bridge be erected, and in reply I have to advise that enquiries have been made, and I find that the cost of this structure is estimated at £lB5O. “As you are aware an item for this sum has been recommended on the Estimates for consideration by Parliament. From the particulars available it would appear that the bridge should be erected without delay, and I have pleasure in informing you that arrangements are now being made by the district engineer at Taumarunui to have the necessary plans prepared. Immediately these, are completed the question of authorising the Government grant referred to to permit of a commencement being made with the erection of the bridge will receive every consideration.”
