BOARDING-HOUSE BURNED
TWELVE MAKE HURRIED ESCAPE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Sept. 19. Twelve boarders in a two-storied apartment house at Devonport made a dash for safety at three o’clock this morning when the house was discovered afire by one man who immediately aroused the others. None had time to save any effects. The building was quickly destroyed. It was occupied by Mrs. C. Hannan who, with Mrs. R. Alderson, was owner. The building was insured for £1550 and the furniture for £750 in the New Zealand Insurance Office.
