Other guests at Chetwode included Dr. Fossie (Christchurch), Mr. and Mrs. Lee, Mr. Gunn and Miss Parsons, Mr. Sheat and party (Auckland). • • • • A very pleasant evening was spent at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. C. Old, Tarurutangi, on Monday in honour of their eldest daughter’s (Rene) 21st birthday. Miss Old to. receive her guests wore a pretty frock of rose pink crepe-de-chine, relieved with lace, falling to the ankles at the back. After games, songs and dancing, supper was served, the tables being prettily arranged with daffodils. In the centre of the table stood the birthday cake, ■which, decorated in pink and white and surrounded with 21 candles, was made by Mrs. Old. Miss Old was given a large number of birthday gifts. Among those present were Mesdames C. Old, W. Julian, T. Potter, Deighton, Arbuckle, E. Dixon, N. Martin, N. Fabish, Haughey, Kaine, Julian and J. Fabish, Misses V. Fabish, 8. Giddy, M. Old, P.
