COASTAL MOVEMENTS.

The John is scheduled to load at iDunedin to-morrow for New Plymouth, where she is due on September 2 via, ■ Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington. From New Plymouth the vessel will proceed to Port Waikato. (Hooker Bros.) The Kaimai, with 379 tons of coal from Greymouth and general eargo from 'Wellington, is due at New Plymouth on Friday. (U.S.S. Co.) The Opihi was to load at Lyttelton on Monday for New Plymouth, where she is due to-morrow, via Wellington and Nelson. The vessel will proceed to Dunedin direct from New Plymouth and will reload at the southern port about Monday. (U.S.S. Co.) The Hauturu is due at New Plymouth with 220 tons to-day from Onehunga and will proceed this afternoon or to-morrow morning to Wanganui. (Northern Co.) The Kaponga, with .405 tons from Westport, via Greymouth and Auckland, is due at New Plymouth about Saturday. (U.S.S. Co.) 'Die Totara will load at Lyttelton on Friday for New Plymouth, via Wellington. She is due at New Plymouth about Tuesday. ' (U.S.S. Co.). MATAKANA TO SAIL. The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Matakana is completing her loading at. Wellington and is to sail for London, Ayonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow at daybreak to-day. The vessel carries 16,000 freight carcases of meat and 2570 crates of cheese loaded -at New Plymouth. PORT ALMA’S ITINERARY. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line motor-ship Port Alma, which is due at Auckland from New York and Tampico on September 7, will at Auckland, Gisborne, Wellington, New Plymouth, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin. The vessel will load produce at Lyttelton, Wellington, Wanganui, New.Plymouth arid Auckland. She is scheduled to sail from Auckland for London,; via Panama, oh October 16. The- Port: Alma is due to discharge asphalt and bitunien at New Plymouth on September 17 and to Tdi'd 8000 freight" darcaseS Ofmeat, 12,000 boxes of butter and 5500 crates of cheese on October 8. CUMBERLAND WITH C'ARGO. The Union Company advises that the Cumberland has taken the place of the Turakina and will leave Liverpool on October 17 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth. She is due at New Plymouth late in December.

With a view to catering for passengers attending the Eucharistic Congress at Dublin .on June 22 to 26 next , year the Orient Line advises that the Ormonde, which will leave Australia in April, will reach Naples in the early morning of Tuesday/ May 31, and will depart on the Wednesday afternoon. Official returns show that on May 1 American, shipyards were, buildipg or under contract to build for private gross, of which 40 of 318,518 tons were > intended for deep sea, Great Lakes or! harbour service, compared with 44 of; 331,092 tons on April 1, states the Syren and Shipping. Apart from barges, the only launch from a United States yard in April was that of the Exeter, a passenger and cargo steamer of 3959 tons gross, building by the New York Shipbuilding Co. for the Export Steamship Corporation.
