A SCHOOL “RAG"
CHRISTCHURCH INCIDENT. BOY THROWN INTO AVON. As a result of a recent escapade, feveral senior boys of a big Cnristjphurch college have had to appear before the Board of Governors and Apologise to another pupil, says the Christchurch Star. It was alleged that after ragging him they threw him into [the Avon. The boy was seized by a party of seniors in the lunch hour, tied -up and locked in a small cupboard until the others had finished the meal. Then lie was removed to one of the house rooms, stripped and dressed his cricket clothes. After this, he [Jivas dragged to the river bank and [thrown in several times. When the boy got home that night he Complained to his father. The father [telephoned to the headmaster and inquiries were made as to the occurrence, {These resulted in a special meeting of [the college board being called. Those responsible were called to face the meeting, and they were made to apologise to [the boy for their action.
