“GREATEST HELD IN AUSTRALIA.*
AUCKLAND PRESIDENT’S PLEA.
By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.
Sydney, Aug. 25.
Scenes of solemnity marked the closing rally of the Christian Endeavour convention, when the Rev. Lionel Fletcher, Auckland, who delivered the address, consecrated a large number of young men and women to the work cf tho movement.
Air. Fletcher described the convention as the greatest held in Australia from the viewpoint of numbers and spirituality. He said that, while he did not wish t<y appear as a killjoy, he expressed the hope that the young people would not allow the vanities' of life to spoil the harmony of the spiritual life. The Rev. Varcoe Codes, the retiring national president, presented to Mr. Fletcher a bound volume of the conven*. tion proceedings. Mr. Fletcher inducted the new officers, the Rev. S. E. Dorman as national president, and Mr. Cocks as deputy. A demonstration by the juniors in the town hall, preceded by a procession through the city streets, was a notable gathering and was marked by stirring addresses and tableaux. ' / /
