KORU-KIRIHAU NEWS

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Although not as well patronised as previous the Koru Hall committee’s recent euchre and dance evening proved a most enjoyable entertainment. The ladies’ prizes were won by Miss-D. Meredith and Mrs. Fisher and the men’s by Messrs. J. Bentham and G. Fisher. Supper was served by the committee, and the floor was then cleared fdr dancing. Mr. Phil Meredith was at the piano, while Mr. J. Green, junr., was master of ceremonies. Supper was served by a ladies’ committee consisting of Mesdames H. Looney, F. Proffit, J. Payne arid Hi J. Keys, while arrangements for the dance were in the hands of Messrs. E. Proffit, J. Payne,' J. Blakely, J. Bentham, .senr,, and S. •Pease. As a result of their efforts the school funds will be slightly augmented, and it is to be hoped z that the committee’s enthusiasm will be rewarded to an even greater extent upon future occasions.

Heavy rain has also played havoc with the Croydon Road. Koru Road, on the other hand, is in excellent condition, whjfe a number of unemployed workers have been busy on the Kirihau Road and have effected a wonderful iufproyemcnt on the many sharp bends.
