BUTTER MARKET CHANGES
GERMANY RENEWS BUYING INCREASE IN IMPORTATIONS. LARGE AMOUNTS GO INTO STOCK. By Telegraph—-Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Aug. 22. The position of the butter market has changed completely, thanks mainly to the improved financial position of Germany, which enabled that country to resume buying on a large scale. This caused a rapid advance in the price of Danish and most other Continental butters.
Stocks in Germany are very small and production is decreasing, so it seems probable that German purchasers will continue their demands for colonial butters. They were active in the' early part of the week but have quietened in the past few days. Prices are steady at the moment, but prospects are somewhat doubtful, as .the imports of both Continental and colonial butter were much above those of the corresponding period of last year, and considerably above current consumption. Consequently there has been a big increase in cold 'store stocks.
