REBUKE FOR TEACHERS
THE UNEMPLOYMENT LEVY. Drastic action was taken by the Nelson Education Board at a recent meeting concerning two West Coast teachers who had not replied to the board’s circular regarding payment of the unemployment levy. The board, in common with other local bodice, is held responsible by the Act that its employees should pay the levy. - ■ The secretary, Mr. Thornton, explained that every teacher had been circularised and all but the two concerned had replied stating that they would comply with the Act. A second notice was sent out to the two teachers about a week a<m asking for an immediate reply, but no answer had been received. The board resolved to inform the two teachers concerned that unless they replied within 48-hours; and. gave satisfactory explanations tJtey wjW receive notice of •"‘•missal. r•. A-' ' • ■.•.•••: '
