10 PER CENT. CUT IN SALARIES.

SMALLER GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY.

Wellington, Aug. 21.

The interim conference of the Plunket Society was held on Wednesday morning. The principal business was to pass the annual statement of accounts and to consider the council’s recommendations in regard to salaries.

In view of the fact that a reduction of 10 per cent, had been made in the grants from the Government to the society towards salaries; it -was unanimously agreed that ;a ; reduction of 10 per cent, be made on, all salaries from September 1, and that where an increase in salary is due tho increase should be given and the cut made on the increased salary. The lisual half-yearly me'eting of the Council was held in conjunction with the conference.
