Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Aug. 20. The London Stock Exchange has decided to open on Saturdays on and after September 19. The pre-war practice of opening for the half-day on Saturday was suspended in April, 1917, and has not been revised, although Wall Street and most Continental bourses open on Saturday for business. To-day’s decision was taken, according to an official statement, “in view of the situation in the country and the desirability of providing facilities for dealing.” It is expected the provincial exchanges will follow the lead of London wlimh has been generally well received by the Press, which regards it as an effort to encourage' increased business activity.
