FANCY DRESS BALL SUCCESS.

The Tututawa hall was a scene of gaiety and happiness on Friday night, when the Social Club held a plain and fancy dress" ball to conclude its euchre and dance evenings. The hall was decorated, and to the strains of Manning s Orchestra all went merrily. Mr. T. Brough gave a recitation and two items, old and modern. Mr. Walker, sen., gave old-time selections on his accordion, and Miss K. Harper, Stratford, delighted her audience with the tango and toe dance. Wallace, Sheik; D. Corkill, Soldier; and M. Cheney, Schoolboy. Occasion was taken to present the points prizes won at euchre to Mrs. P. Norris and Mr.-A. C. Gibbs. . The weather was again unkind for the ladies’ sunshine afternoon; nevertheless, a pleasant time was spent at Mrs Brookings on Wednesday. Miss V. Beckwith won the spotting competition. A meeting was held in the Tututawa hafl on August 5 to form a tennis and croquet club. Mr. D. Corkill was elected chairman and Mr. R.. Corry secretary, with a working committee of nine. It is intended to lay down a grass and concrete court and croquet lawn in the domain grounds for the coming sports season. ’ Miss Freda Beckwith-is-visiting her parents. ’ ■ '' 1 ’'' Mrs. Evetts, New Plymouth, was here for the fancy dress ball.
