ESCAPE OF PRINCE
SPEEDING IN MOTOR-BOAT. FLOATING LOG JUST AVOIDED. London, Aug. 11. Although the Prince of Wales swerved in the nick of time to escape a head-on collision with a floating log while speeding in his new out-board motor-boat on, Virginia. Water, near his new country, house, the log caught the stern of the boat and ripped the propeller from the tail-shaft. „ The vessel pulled up in a flurry of spray and smoke. The Prince inspected the damage after the boat had been towed to land, and secured a ne.w propeller from. London. It is recalled that the late Sir Henry Segrave lost his life on Lake Windermere when Miss England 11. struck the floating branch of a tree. Virginia Water is a lake not far from Windsor, on Royal property, butts open to the public for boating.
