JT is with very much regret we advise that the future market outlook for skins, veal and offal is ,not at all encouraging, and we are reluctantly compelled to advise you COMMENCING AS FROM MONDAY NEXT, the 24th instant the advances on calves to farmers must be substantially, reduced. . Therefore, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE AND COMMENCING FROM THAT DATE our advances will be as follows:— LARGE CALVES 2/3. MEDIUM CALVES 1/9. SMALL CALVES 1/3. No doubt you will be disappointed, like we are, in receiving this news, but we hav« no other alternative but-to make the above reduction. We can advise you quite definitely that there is to-day actually no market for calf skins. In fact, they are unsaleable and unfortunately We-have a fairly large parcel to dispose of, and do not know what price will be realised on same when placing them overseas. Our Skin Buyer recently advised us be has been working for weeks on behalf of other groups to dispose of skins, but- without success. ' • Farmers must realise in the co-operative scheme which this association is working on, the association is not a speculator but is out to give the farmer everything that is in it, and in view of the fact our advances to farmers are WITHOUT RECOURSE we feel sure and farmers realise we cannot take any risk of* reclamations. If the market outlook for veal, offals and skins improves, it will mean we will perhaps receive a better price than what we anticipate, in which event farmers will' obtain the full benefit under our co-operative scheme, because as stated before, they will- receive everything that is in it after expenses have been paid. IMPORTANT: The vital difference between our co-operative scheme, and the other buyers is that our present cash payment is an ADVANCE ONLY —theirs is a final pavment. ... D. LE.C MORGAN, Secretary.
