MORE FUNDS FOR N.P.R.S.A.

CANTEEN FUND DISTRIBUTION, HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY GIFT Allocations of £lOOO monthly are to be made by the Canteen Funds Board to headquarters of the Returned Soldiers’ Association for distribution among the various associations, following representations made at the annual conference of the R.S.A. in June. The distribution of the canteen funds will commence on September 1, .the New Plymouth Association has been advised. The monthly meeting of the New Plymouth R.S.A. executive decided to accept in the near future an invitation from the Okau members to visit the district for the purpose of forming a branch of the association.

The balance of the funds of the defunct New Plymouth Horticultural Society was offered to the association as a donation, there being conditions that the money be expended to provide work for unemployed returned soldiers, and in the direction of beautifying New Plymouth. A challenge was received from the South Canterbury branch to a membership drive. Last year the Oamaru branch challenged New Plymouth, the latter winning by 202 to 220.

There were present at the meeting Messrs F. L. Hartnell, H. N. Johnson, W. Southam, R. G. Moverley, P. C. Davie, J. R. Seeats, A. L. Low, T. Hopkins and E, J. Carr.
