RAHOTU NOTES
The dance held in aid of the Rahotu Tennis Club was a great success, visitors coming from as far as New Plymouth. The music was provided by Henderson’s band and pianoforte extras were played by Miss Duggan and Messrs. H. Brooker and Hooker. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss G. Smythe and Mr. Raven and the second prize, by Miss Cockrane and Mr. R. Cox. Mr. P. Chapman was master of ceremonies. Airs. C. Field went to Auckland to visit her father, who was ill, but he died before she arrived. Air. Dunn was farming on the Ngariki Road over 21 years ago and* from there he went to the Auckland, district. Airs. F. Baker- is visiting the north. _ Sympathy is expressed in the district for Air. and Airs. Corbett in the loss of their youngest. daughter, who had been a very patient sufferer in hospital for three and a half years and was only 14 years of age. On Saturday morning Airs. King Hon and her children left Rahotu for Opunake on the first stage of her ojurney to China. At the euchre party on July 27 Aliss Langton won the first prize, Airs. Laurie Billing the second and Airs. Grinlington the consolation. Air. Bert Hopkins was first among the men and Messrs. N. Andrews and N. Alorgan tied for second place, blaster V. McGregor received the consolation prize. Rahotu people are to be treated to pictures (talkies) again, the first to be shown to-night.
