PROHIBITION ON POTATOES
NO CHANGE IN COMMONWEALTH.

• : . Dunedin, Last Night. Mr. J. B. Waters, chairman of the Dunedin Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants’ Association, forwarded the following telegram to the Minister of Agriculture: In view of the heavy production of Australian produce the Dunedin Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants’ Association respectfully urges the strongest representations to the Australian authorities to remove the embargo on New' Zealand potatoes in order to assist growers in the present glutted market.” • j » The following reply was received from the Minister: “Your telegsam received. The Government quite recently cabled to the Australian authorities urging the withdrawal of the embargo on the importation of potatoes into the Commonwealth, but I regret to say the reply received was that the request could not be acceded to.
