SCOUT COMPETITIONS
PROGRAMME FOR ELTHAM EVENT The following events are on the programme of the South Taranaki Scout and Cub competitions to be held at Eltham this year;— Scouts’ (Ollerenshaw Cup): Patrol marching without staves (by four boys and patrol leader); compass (by patrol and leader, event to be arranged by scoutmasters); Scout haka (by patrols of five boys and patrol leader); signalling (four boys); ambulance competition (general ambulance work. Tiianirular’ bandages to be provided by patrol and points to count for correctness in handling, ease, time, stretcher and correctness of drill; stretcher to be improvised); physical drill (as laid down In “Scouting “for Boys”); message relay; artificial respiration (Schaeffer method as in “Scouting for Boys”). Cubs (Legion of Frontiersmen totem pole): Forming circles and howl; marching under sixers; walking plank; skipping; knot-tying and explanation first-aid as for first-aid badge for cubs; alphabet, semaphore; eight points of compass. . t. u n Both trophies are at present held ny Manaia.
