INCREASE OF £5208.

PROVISION FOR RECRUITS.

The allocations in the Government's estimates for naval defence total £5208 more than the expenditure folia st year. 'The amount proposed to be \oted for H.M.S. Diomede shows an increase of about £40,000, but that for the Dunedin is down by a similar amount. The Philomel’s allocation is £37,000, which includes pay of ratings serving in H.M.S. Wakakura and provision for the training of 67 recruits.
