“BURGLARS” ATTACK GIRL
STORY PROVES FABRICATION
WELLINGtON THEET ADMITTED. GIRL TO BE'KEPT FROM DANCES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington; August 1. A girl of 18, who recently alleged io the police that she was attacked by burglars and pushed into a room on returning to the place where she lived after work, admitted in court to-day that the story was a fabrication. She was charged with theft and the magistrate expressed concern that such a girl should be at a loose febd, her mother being in hospital and her father in Napier. It having been stated that the girl’s brother woiild give her a home, the magistrate convicted her and ordered her to conic up for sentence if called upon. The girl was to be kept from dances and to stay With her brother until she obtained employment She was ordered to refund 15s she had (stolen.
