LAUNCHES CHASE TRAINING SHIP.
DESERTER’S EXHAUSTING SWIM. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 1.8 a.m. Sydney, July 31. The departure of the Chilean training corvette was marked by exciting events. Half a dozen sailors missed the ship owing to their inability to find the correct wharf and were put aboard police launches which overtook their ship. Another sailor tried to escape while the corvette was steaming down the harbour. tie was rescued, after a long exhausting swim, by the Press photographers’ launch and was returned to his ship.
