EXPULSION OF 26 MEMBERS
REFUSAL TO SIGN PLEDGES ADVICE GIVEN MR. J. T. LANG PAYMENT OF OVERSEA DEBT By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, July 25. The central executive of the Australian Labour Party has declared expelled from party the 26 members of the Legislative Council nominated by Labour Governments and who voted against the legislation introduced by the present Ministry or declined to sign the party’s pledges. The executive decided to recommend Mr. J. T. Lang to rejoin the Loan Council, and authorised the Premier to accept legal liability for the payment of the overseas debt, but, because of inability to pay, to suspend payments until suth times as the debt is readjusted on terms at least. as beneficial as those granted by the United States to England.
