TWENTY-SIX DIE OF BURNS 217 ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL MORE MAY DIE OF INJURIES DISASTER AT PITTSBURGBy Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. New York, July 24. Twenty-six persons were burned to death at Pittsburg when fire destroyed a home for the aned conducted by the Little Sisters of the Poor. One of these was a nun, and it is believed that the 25 were all inmates of the home.
Many of those who escaped from the buildings were injured or suffered severely from shock, and no fewer than 217 persons are in hospital. Physicians fear that the shock caused by the terror and confusion among the aged folk will increase the number of deaths. The fire occurred at night.
