GOLDMINING LEASES LOST
CLAIM INSUFFICIENTLY PEGGED.
WARDEN EXPRESSES REGRET.
>y Telegraph.—Press Association.
Ashburton, July 24.
Holding that the pegging had not been sufficient, the Warden, Mr. Orr Walker, S.M., dismissed applications by Frederick William Manton and Godfrey Magnus, Wellington, for goldmining leases a mile long and 500 feet wide on the Ninety Mile Beach south of and near Lake Ellesmere. The method proposed for extraction was a specially contrived centrifugal pump. The Warden expressed regret at the rejection of the claim on a technicality, as mining should be encouraged as much as possible.
