After an absence of 24 years the Matson liner Sonoipa arrived here to-day, inaugurating a new American service from San Francisco to Sydney via Auckland and other ports. The Sonoma left San Francisco on July 3 with 206 passengers, 160 of whom were booked for Honolulu. When she arrived here she had. 76 passengers 11 ; of whom landed. Besides passengers the vessel brought 153 tons of cargo and 418 packages of mail for Auckland.
