Rain yesterday afternoon caused delay in the loading of 19,000 boxes of butter, 4000 crates of cheese and 1(1,000 freight carcases of meat into the Commonwealth and. Dominion Line vessel Port Dunedin at New Plymouth, as a result the 1 vessel will not now be able to leave for Auckland until tomorrow evening. OPAWA DUE SUNDAY. The Union Company advises that the New Zealand Shipping Company’s new motor-ship Opawa is due at New Plymouth about Sunday to load 9000 freight carcases of meat. The Opawa left Bluff at 7 a.m. on Wednesday for Timaru, where she was due yesterday morning to continue her homeward loading. She will complete at Lyttelton, Ncw~ Plymouth, Auckland, Gisborne, Napier, Wanganui, and Wellington, and is scheduled to clear Wellington on August 12 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, and Glasgow, via the Panama Canal. WAIKAWA ON SUNDAY. The Union Company’s steamer Waikawa is scheduled to sail from Auckland to-day for New Plymouth, Wellington, Napier, Lyttelton/Melbourne and Sydney to complete unloading cargo from Pacific Coast ports.. The vessel is due at New Plymouth on Sunday. KAREPO LEAVES GREYMOUTH. '.The Karepo, which has been barbound at Greymouth since the end of last week, left there on Wednesday afternoon for Melbourne and Adelaide. She is to load at Adelaide, F.dithburg and Melbourne for New Plymouth, Auckland. Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton and Wanganui. MATAICANA REPORTS. The Shaw, Savill Company Jias received a wireless message from its steamer Matakana, en route from London, reporting that she expects to reach Auckland, to-morrow evening. She will later proceed to Wellington and New Plymouth to complete discharge. WESTMORELAND LEAVES COLON. Cabled advice has been received by the Federal Company that the Westmoreland cleared Colon on July 17. She left Aiickland on June 25 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow and carries 875 tons of cargo, including 8657 boxes of butter and 1003 crates -of cheese, loaded at New Plymouth during the second week in June. ruahine reports all well. New Zealand Shipping Company on Wednesday received a wireless message from its liner Ruahine, which left Wellington at 7 a.m. last Saturday for Southampton and London, via the Panama Canal, reporting that she has been experiencing moderate weather. All was well on board. The vessel carries 591 tons of cargo, including 11,097 boxes of butter, from New Plymouth. KIEL CANAL TRAFFIC. There was a decline of 1268 vessels and 900,000 tons net in the traffic using the Kiel Canal during the first three months of 1931, compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. The decline compared with the last quarter of 1930 was still greater—44s6 vessels and 2,100,000 tons. The actual figures for the quarter to March 31 this year were 9323 vessels of 3,483,000 tons, of which 6871 of 1,634,000 tons were Ger-man-owned. AUSTRALIAN STEAMERS SOLD. Advice has been received that the Adelaide S.S. Company’s cargo steamer Urilla and the Howard Smith Company s cargo steamer Chillagoe have seen sold to Eastern buyers. The Urilla is a steel vessel of 1885 tons gross, and was built at Middlesborough in 1907. She is fixed to load wheat for Northern China. The Chillagoe is a steel vessel of 1494 tons gross, and was formerly known as the Maltese Cross. She was biult at Londonderry in 1900, and was specially built for carrying heavy cargo. The wellknown steamer Komura, 21.12 tons gross, and owned by Mcllwraitli, McEaeharn, Ltd. is reported sold to buyers in Northern Chipa. The Komura was built at Sunderland in 1905, and was specially engaged in the Newcastle and Southern coal trade. According to London rdvices this vessel has been fixed to load a cargo of wheat for Shanghai at Ils 6d per ton. ' SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
