Wellington, July 23. The desirability of closing courts when unsavoury cases are being dealt with was raised by the Wellington branch of a Women’s National Council deputation to the Hon. J. G. Cobbe today- . , The Minister undertook to circularise magistrates asking them to exercise the discretion they possessed. It was stated that the women were not asking anything in the way of star chamber methods, nor the exclusion of the Press, but women witnesses in maintenance and affiliation cases were very often subjected to annoyance by undesirable persons.
