The Federal Treasury officials are puzzled by the extraordinary demand during the past two months for silver coin, as the stocks of silver coin held in the vaults are practically exhausted They are inclined to think, owing to the contraction in the use of cheques, more silver has been employed as a medium of exchange. Another suggestion is that people are hoarding silver, fearing a financial col lapse. Officials, warn such people that this is hardly worth while, as the real value of a shilling is now only about 2jd. "
